Itinerary
Day 1
Napo River and Arajuno River Tour
08:30 am Start: The tour starts at 8:30 am from our office and Tena.
Transfer to Napo: We will travel by private car to the Punta region, then by motorized canoe along the Napo River and explore different areas along the way.
Visit the Ceibo tree: First stop is a guided tour through the jungle to an ancient tree Ceibo, which is believed to have more than 200 years. The guide will also point out several plants, fruits and trees along the way.
Preparing chocolate with a Kichwa family: After the walk, continue downstream to visit a local Kichwa indigenous family. They will tour your cocoa farm and then teach you how to make chocolate!
Optional Tubing: For the adventurous at heart, continue the next stage of the trip floating down the river in a tube, which is considered a soft water sport class I. This activity is optional and you can continue by canoe also if you do not want to tubing.
Visit to the Animal Rescue Center: Regardless of how it goes, the next stop is the animal rescue center, AmaZOOnico. Learn how to rehabilitate, reintroduce and care for animals that have been victims of illegal trafficking. Not all animals can be reintroduced, but those that can, are released in a nearby protected forest called the Living Forest.
Cultural learning on Lake Cayman: The next stop along the Napo River tour is to visit another local family and spend time on Lake Caiman. In addition, we learn about indigenous weapons, tools and traps, some of which are still being used by people today.
Monkey Islands: We will visit the island of monkeys by canoe. who live in their natural state.
El Mirador: The last stop of today's adventure is the town of Kichwa called El Mirador.
Cabins and Dinner: Here, settle in the ecological cabins, relax and enjoy the incredible surroundings of the jungle before joining the dining room for dinner.
Night fire : After dinner, we can light a fire or take a night walk.
Day 2
El Mirador Community
7:30 am Breakfast: Start the day with a nutritious breakfast, then start the next adventure.
Canoe ride : Begin by sailing in a motorized or traditional canoe and travel along the Arajuno River to a jungle path. Our expert guides will point out medicinal plants and demonstrate how our ancestors used traps to capture animals to support families.
Panoramic view of the jungle: On the way, enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the jungle before returning to the indigenous village.
Traditional food: In the community, share a traditional meal and learn from people how to make crafts with materials found in the jungle.
Cultural dance: The members of the community will also perform a cultural dance (kichwa wedding demonstration) before returning to the canoe and returning to Puní Bocana.
Return to Puní Bocana
04:00 pm Return to Tena: There, a bus will take you to Tena (4 pm) to end the tour.
