4 Days Tambopata Reserve and Walk through the Canopy Walk

The breathtaking flora and fauna bring fear and excitement to each passing moment in the jungle while the beauty of the jungle and the Amazon River allows for pure relaxation mixed with just the right amount of adventure.

Meet the wild side of Peru and visit the Amazon rainforest! You will be able to know the magic of our Amazon jungle that is inside the National Reserve of Tambopata.
Visit Lake Sandoval, you will be able to appreciate great variety of birds and monkeys of different species (shansho, cormorán, jacanas, puma heron, gallinazos, cotomono, monkey friar, black machín, pichicos and sloths).

Puerto Maldonado: Transfer from the Airport or Bus Terminal.

Itinerary

Day 1

Puerto Maldonado - Hostel

In the morning (according to arrival time): Reception at the airport or at the land terminal and transfer to the office for the corresponding records.
Transfer to the harbor captaincy where we will take the boat for an hour, to our hostel.
Welcome meeting, with a refreshing fruit juice of our region and then settled in our respective rooms.
After a restful rest, you will have as an introduction a two hour hike in the dense tropical forest, guided by an expert local guide, who will take you on our trails and you will appreciate a variety of trees that can easily be more than five hundred years old, as well as well as some species of wild animals such as toucans, oropendolas, macaws, monkeys, snakes, butterflies, etc.
After lunch, we will visit "Isla de los Monos", located in front of our lodge crossing the Madre de Dios River where we will find different species such as the family of Capuchin monkeys and monkeys living on the island.
Return to the lodge.
At night we will go in search of white alligators that are usually on sand banks, in the Madre de Dios river for which it will be necessary to bring a flashlight. Also, we can see Capibara, the largest rodent in the world that can weigh up to 60 kilos.
Return to the lodge, dinner and rest.

Day 2

Lake Sandoval

After breakfast, first thing in the morning, we will walk 3 km in the middle of the dense rainforest to go towards Lake Sandoval (habitat of piranhas), one of the largest of the Tambopata National Reserve. Here we will take a boat ride, appreciating a great variety of birds and monkeys of different species (shansho, cormorant, jacanas, puma heron, gallinazos, cotomono, monkey friar, black machín, pichicos and sloths).
If we are lucky, we will have a meeting with the family of the giant Otter (almost two meters long), which is in danger of extinction and the largest recorded alligators of more than 4 meters long.
Return to the Lodge to enjoy the typical lunch.
In the evening we will have a walk where we will be able to appreciate the diversity of species of insects, amphibians, reptiles and other animals of nocturnal habits.
Dinner and rest.

Day 3

Canopy Walk-Way

5.30 am - We will make a short walk through the Canopy Walk-Way, over 30 meters high, which will allow us to appreciate nature from the highest possible. We will also have a panoramic view of the Madre de Dios River, observing, from the platforms, different species of birds such as toucans, macaws, tangaras, oropendolas, etc.
After breakfast we prepare for a challenging activity on the trees more than 30 meters high. For this activity we will have an instructor guide who will give us a talk on how to use the safety harness for the Zip-line, feeling the adrenaline as it slides through the trees.
Return to the lodge. Lunch and rest.
In the afternoon. the challenge is to cross the Rio Madre de Dios in Kayak. On the way we can appreciate the fascinating sunset.

Day 4

Return to Puerto Maldonado

Breakfast and return to the city.
Transfer to the airport or bus station.
End of our services.

Our lodge in the Amazon rainforest is about 40 minutes by boat from Puerto Maldondano. Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the rates. The rooms have a private bathroom with hot water. The hotel's restaurant serves Peruvian cuisine. Guests can spend the evening in the bar, where a variety of cocktails is offered.
